February 2020 FUNdraiser

Dexters most recent FUNdraising event was held at Bright Futures nursery school in Rawtenstall on Saturday 22nd February. We were inspired to hold the event by Lauren Ashworth who had been raising funds to help treat her fathers brain cancer. Sadly, her dad Barry (Baz) lost his fight a few days before, but Lauren was keen for us to carry on and funds are now being donated to Chloes Angels, Parkinsons UK (in memory of my dad) and The Brain Tumour Charity.

We raised over £750! through a combination of donations and merchandise sales.
20 people attended to take part in a 3 hour professional training session. We had brilliant feedback from all delegates who want to take part in more sessions and are keen to use their new skills.

We all had a lovely morning helped along by coffee and cake and we would like to say a big Talkfirst thankyou to all those people who came along and gave their generous donations. Special thanks to Julie and Gary Nixon from Julies Childcare in Rawtenstall. Also massive thanks to Ailsa, Becky and the team at Bright Futures who gave up their time and resources to make the day such a success.

We had a lovely surprise when one of our younger delegates (17 years old) had come along to classes with her mum 15 years ago as a baby. She is now pursuing a career in childcare and wants to develop her skills in signing. What a great advocate for Takfirst!
