Talk First Summer Madness!

Hello there – Susan & Julia here!

We are currently in the midst of our final block of Summer classes (not that you would know that with the weather we have had!!) We have had some lovely themes such as ‘Animals in the Garden’ ‘At the Park’ and ‘Tucking Up Time’ and we still have our final Summer class ‘Day at the Beach’ to come – look out for Dexter in his fantastic sunglasses!

This half term Susan has been super busy delivering some Professional Training for a childminding network, arranged by Julie’s Childcare in Rawtenstall. This was attended by Broadway Childminders in Helmshore, Davina’s Childcare in Bacup and Danielle & Darren’s in Stacksteads. Danielle & Darren’s Childcare also invited the parents/carers of their children in to do a TalkFirst workshop alongside their children, to meet Dexter and learn some signs! This showed the benefits to the parents of them being able to reinforce the use of signs at home, building on the great work the children do with Susan & Dexter at nursery.

Our new website is looking very smart! Susan & Julia have had some special training from Les Dundas Website Design, learning how to update the website and add your wonderful photos! If you spot any errors or have any suggestions in how to make it even better then please contact us – it’s very much a steep learning curve for us, and work in progress!!

Looking for cool Summer clothes for your little ones? Look out for the new TalkFirst T-shirts which Julia will have available soon – they are currently being printed by JSA Print, Rawtenstall – great for wearing to class and for playing out in on Summer days.

In 4 weeks time Dexter will be having his annual break for the Summer, with all classes resuming in September 2019. Meanwhile, Julia is planning a special series of Summer holiday classes for some of the nurseries that she attends with Dexter – if you would like to get involved then please get in touch – it could be the perfect way to try out TalkFirst in your setting!
