We are Back! September 2020

Hello there – Susan & Julia here!
How are you all doing? Well, here we are in September and what a Summer it was – words and concepts we never thought we would have to embrace such as: lockdown, furlough, isolate, frontline, social distance, quarantine, facemask… all somehow now a part of our daily lives. We have all adapted, including our wonderfully resilient children, and they continue to remind us that playing, learning, connecting, laughing and smiling are still the foundation of our lives, whatever else may be going on.

We have both been busy during the Summer, nurturing those familiar routines and keeping those little smiles going! We recorded and delivered weekly online classes throughout the Summer term, embracing Facebook Live, Zoom and You Tube, with increasingly dodgy lockdown hairdos, the odd technical hitch, lots of laughing and a definite learning curve! We have monitored government guidance and steered through local lockdowns, aiming fairly and squarely for September – and nowhere we are! The fantastic news is that both of us are now returning with face to face classes – and we can’t wait to see you in person!

We have plenty of resources to share safely, our usual cleaning plus additional quarantining (even for our cheeky little Dexters!), and all our usual signs, songs and activities to enjoy together! Thank you so much to everyone who has signed up for this term – hopefully we will be able to open classes up to more of you very soon.

Meanwhile, we will still be recording online classes so get in touch if you would like to access these to enjoy at home or in your setting. Julia is also going to be delivering some virtual Professional Training classes at Nelson & Colne College later this term, so she is busy uploading materials onto an online learning platform, ready to use. Again, if you would like our Professional Training for your staff or setting then please get in touch.

So, as we step into our ‘new normal’ it’s time to have some fun, learn some signs, connect and play – so come and join us on our TalkFirst journey!

Happy signing and singing (quietly, of course)

Susan & Julia (and Dexter!)
